OpenSite/Guides/Inspect and export plots
Keep a published plot, its script and its numerical meaning together.
- Stable identifier
opensite.help.inspect-and-export-plots
Prerequisites
The scientific Python runtime and Python workbench. First complete OpenSite/Guides/Publish a plot.
Steps
Publish from the script
Use opensite.plot.show() to publish open figures, or pass a specific figure. Matplotlib uses Agg; the tab shows a published raster, not a live Qt plotting canvas.
Navigate the image
Use wheel zoom and the plot view’s pan interaction to inspect the raster. This changes the view of the image; it does not recompute axes, rerun the script or improve the underlying image resolution.
Save a PNG
Use the plot’s Save action. Choose an existing destination folder and a normal .png filename. Inspect the saved image; do not infer a vector export from its screen appearance.
Copy or close
Copy copies the plot image for pasting into another application. Close closes its session view. Export images you need before closing the session.
Keep evidence with the image
Retain the script, source inputs, units and build identifier with the PNG. A plotted curve is not automatically a verified engineering result. For publication-quality output, configure labels/units in the Matplotlib script before publishing.
Expected result
A PNG exists at your chosen path and can be interpreted alongside its script and units.
Limitations
The help does not claim interactive axis editing, vector plot export, solver results or saved plot tabs inside .osdoc.
