OpenSite/FAQ
Quick answers to common questions before you start.
Where can I download OpenSite?
See OpenSite/Downloads. No public application release/installer is published in the reviewed repository. An authorized internal build is separate from a public release.
Is OpenSite open source?
The repository describes a commercial product and includes no project open-source licence grant. See OpenSite/Licensing. The documentation wiki account is separate from an application licence.
Can I analyse a bridge or run a design-code check?
Not with the documented development workflows. A rectangular-section quantity example is not a bridge-analysis, meshing, solver or code-check workflow. See OpenSite/Known limitations.
Why is my new document blank?
A new document does not automatically create geometry. Use the object tree and available material/data tools. A viewport needs supported display data; a blank view is not proof of a lost document.
Why are no standard grades listed?
Production catalog grades are pending selection in this baseline. You can learn with user-defined practice materials. A standard filter does not populate or convert materials already stored in a document.
Why does my script not find opensite?
It must run inside the matching OpenSite embedded host. A normal system Python interpreter is not equivalent. Check that Python support and the matching runtime are included.
Does changing mm to m resize the model?
A unit display profile changes input/output presentation while canonical physical values remain in SI. Edit a quantity when you mean to change the physical value.
Why did a saved Python expression not run on reopen?
Loading retains source without automatically executing it. Trusted document Python recalculation requires explicit enablement/recalculation. See OpenSite/Guides/Use the expression editor.
Where is my script output?
Workbench stdout/stderr is in shared Output; interactive Console output is in its transcript. See OpenSite/Guides/Inspect Output.
Can Undo recover yesterday’s unsaved work?
No. History is session-only, and autosave/crash recovery is not implemented. Save checkpoints and keep external backups.
