Enter values in the form expected by the shared property editors.

Stable identifier
opensite.help.edit-typed-properties

Prerequisites

A practice document with editable fields. Save a checkpoint first.

Steps

Choose an editable field

Select an object, then activate its editable value in the property inspector or task/dialog. The field descriptor determines the editor. A field not applicable to the object need not be shown or editable.

Enter a quantity with units

Enter an explicit value such as 250 mm or 210 GPa. Verify the displayed unit and evaluated result before committing. The unit profile changes presentation; it does not convert engineering intent or remove dimensions.

Use the field’s type

Type Input pattern
Boolean / choice Choose a listed option. Enumeration identifiers are not arbitrary free text.
Colour #AARRGGBB, including the alpha component.
Date / time YYYY-MM-DD / HH:MM:SS.
Date-time YYYY-MM-DDTHH:MM:SS.
Real list / quantity list A list such as 1, 2, 3 or 1 m, 2 m, 3 m; quantity members must share compatible dimensions.

Correct a rejected value

Read the message, check syntax, range, dimension and permitted choices, then revise the input. A rejected transaction should not be treated as a successful edit. Avoid repeatedly pasting an invalid value.

Understand formulas versus literals

For a formula-managed field, inspect the expression dialog before replacing it with a literal. Assigning a literal removes the stored expression; see OpenSite/Guides/Use the expression editor.

Expected result

The accepted value has the intended type and unit, and dependent values remain consistent.

Limitations

Changing a presentation field is not an engineering calculation or a design-code check.
