Compute area and centroidal second moments of a solid rectangle.
- Stable identifier
document.rectangular-section
Status reported by source
Implemented in the reviewed development source. Historical test evidence is recorded by the repository; no test rerun or product release is claimed by this publication.
Units
Width and height are lengths. Area is m². Ixx and Iyy are m⁴. For width 0.30 m and height 0.60 m the area is 0.18, Ixx is 0.0054, and Iyy is 0.00135. The absolute tolerance used in tests is 1e-12.
Behavior
Local x follows the width, local y follows the height, and local z follows the member so that x cross y points along z. Ixx is width * height³ / 12. Iyy is height * width³ / 12. Editing an input marks the derived values and recomputation updates them inside a transaction.
Errors
Non-positive or non-length inputs are rejected. Derived properties are not editable inputs.
Limitations
This is a document-engine demonstration. It is not the section-design plugin, not a design-code check, and not a statement about global structural axes.
Available hosts
Document engine, CLI, embedded Python and the desktop section/document workspace on Windows.
Licensing and access
This OpenSite document calculation is not a licensed design standard. The legacy document.create_section command uses document.edit; ordinary desktop workspace commands may use document.workspace.
Verification evidence
Repository evidence references (not rerun for this publication): CTest document.section_reference. ADR-0012.
Documentation basis
Source-reviewed against development commit 77c3fee13944bcc4b5d487c77eb1f82fbe4c6ea7, branch feature/phase-13c-properties-python-expressions. This review inspected the implementation and repository evidence; it did not run the Windows application or repeat CTest.
